About Diane

“The Professional” Diane Swan

Diane Swan is a Professional Christian Counselor, speaker and writer who is passionate about using her God given gifts to assist ladies in living victorious lives in Christ.  Her contagious laughter and freedom in the Spirit uplifts and energizes ladies as she infuses God’s words of truth into their hearts and minds.  Diane enjoys sharing true life messages that relate to the complex lives of every day women, and leaves them feeling equipped to be more than conquerors in all their battles. Diane and her husband Todd are the founders of Seven Swans Ministries, an organization devoted to living out the gifts of the Spirit by offering a unique array of services to encourage, edify and expand God’s kingdom. When the Swan’s are at home, their nest resides in the rustic hills of Central Pennsylvania where they enjoy their days tending to their bevy of five children and a dog who believes he is number six.

“The Real Deal” Diane Swan

So now that you have a glimpse of the professional Diane let’s go a layer deeper and peek into who I really am … I have to start with saying the obvious, I am just a girl.  A 39 year old girl,  but still I feel like that spunky, little cutie on the inside that loves dandelions, cart wheels, and giggling. Although my 39 year old body does not quite resemble a little girl any more nor does it have the ability to spontaneously burst into series of cartwheels, I still have that girl spirit and I pray it always stays within me, for that is when I feel the most authentic.

I am a girl who is extremely passionate about three things:

1. My Big Beautiful Blended Family!! I am crazy in love with being a wife and a mother of five! I love the concept and reality of family life with all its ups and downs; it’s a ride I would choose again and again. My family is God’s greatest earthly gift to me, and together we are The Seven Swans. There are no “steps” in our family, and oh how I despise the term step child or step parent.  A step is something you step on, what an awful title to give to a child or parent entering into family together.  The title is basically stating “I am going to step on you.”  Umm…no thank you. I prefer bonus daughter/son or bonus mom/dad because it is truly a blessing and an added bonus in our family to have each other.

My blessings include:

Nicole (19) our oldest who is currently kicking it as a sophomore at college in Palm Beach, Florida, while simultaneously causing her mother to go through a painful spiritual growth spurt.  (Ladies with kids in college…I feel your pain!)

Lexi (18) is our drama queen, but not in a bad way!  She has a heart and extreme talent for exhibiting God’s messages through the art of drama. She is a freshman at InCharacter Creative School of Ministry, in the beautiful sunshine state as well. (Why are all my children going to Florida??)

Andre (18) and no, him and Lexi are not twins.  He is our senior and source of humor as he enjoys dressing in costumes, wearing fake mustaches, and unknowingly talking in different accents.

Samuel (10) our sweet hearted cuddler who enjoys skiing on snow or water, and loves to pray for others and worship God with all his might.

The baby is Isabella (10) and yes her and Sam are twins, technically making her the youngest of our family by fifteen minutes.  Ella as we call her, is a singer song writer, and loves to sit at the feet of her daddy and give words to the sweet sounds he plays on his guitar.

And my favorite person and final member of our family is Mr. Todd William Swan, my husband, BFF, and partner in the crimes of big family craziness who hits the chart at 5’4” but is a giant among men when measured by the heart.  Somehow the Lord knew in His great wisdom that I would need a husband that loves me wildly and yet is strong enough to keep me in check.  Hence, He created my husband who is truly a saint among living men (trust me I can be a bitter pill to swallow sometimes, he deserves an award!).  Todd at heart is a humble carpenter turned teacher, a gifted musician and a representative of Christ to all. I am so in love with this man!!

2. My second great passion is PEOPLE!! I love nothing more than coming along side of people in life, sharing Jesus with them and watching the Great and Almighty One do radical transformations in their lives. I love sitting with them, crying with them, teaching, speaking, and writing words of encouragement for them. I just straight up love all you people!

3. And lastly my greatest, and most passionate love is…JESUS!!!!!! Yes, I am a Jesus freak and loving every minute with Him.  I love being in the presence of Jesus. I love what He did for me and for all of us, but mostly I just love Him because He loved me first.  When I was a mess, a hopeless cause, a shame filled broken nothing . . . He loved me, and that love is a transforming power that set the little girl inside of me free. Oh how I love Jesus!!!

So that’s me, a brief but valid representation of me minus the negatives.  So for the sake of transparency, here is a small list of my short comings (Yes a small list, not all inclusive, but no sense in beating myself up):

  • I am a control freak in recovery, however I have frequent relapses (my husband would say daily)
  • Critical – I have a tendency to be overly critical of the ones I love most (typically it is because the log in my eye is distorting my view)
  • I am in need of a supernatural healing from the disease called busyness
  • Inconsistency – I do not always exercise the same skills I teach my clients and readers (Jesus is still working on me too)
  • My children have called me “Spaz” and in those moments the name has been accurate
  • I am currently learning to not stress about my house being a mess
  • I am not a fast learner
  • Priorities – I struggle with keeping God in first place (but thankfully everything falls apart when I don’t and I am quickly reminded of the necessity of having things in the correct hierarchy)

There you have it. The professional Diane, and the real deal Diane. Welcome to my life. I’m so glad you’re here, and I pray you are encouraged by my words, and willingness to let you see glimpses of Christ at work in me.

Welcome to Seven Swans Ministries!!
